Precooking in its husk makes parboiled rice a powerhouse of a grain. In a process that is centuries old in some parts of India, the grain of rice goes through a process of soaking, and steaming and is then dried. The husk is removed, the end result being a nutrient, carbohydrate, mineral, and vitamin-packed parboiled rice. Apart from all this goodness, the pale yellow parboiled rice is a great source of fibre and protein too.
