Ingredients
- 2 cups of gram flour (besan)
- 1 cup of Desi Ghee Add to cart
- 1 cup of Coconut Sugar Add to cart
- 1 teaspoon of cardamom powder
- 2 tablespoons of chopped nuts (cashews, almonds, or pistachios)
- 1 tablespoon of raisins (optional)
Instructions
Step 1: Roasting the Besan
- Heat 1 cup of Desi Ghee in a heavy-bottomed pan on low flame.
- Add 2 cups of gram flour (besan) to the pan. Stir constantly to avoid burning, and roast the besan until it turns golden brown and emits a nutty aroma. This process takes approximately 10-12 mins.
- Ensure that the besan is roasted lightly; that is essential for the flavor of the ladoos.
Step 2: Adding Coconut Sugar
- Once the besan is roasted, turn off the heat and let it cool for a few minutes.
- Gradually add 1 cup of coconut sugar to the roasted besan and mix together. The residual heat will help dissolve the coconut sugar, blending it with the besan.
Step 3: Flavoring with Cardamom
- Add 1 teaspoon of cardamom powder to the mixture and stir well to include the taste of the besan.
Step 4: Adding Nuts and Raisins
- In a separate small pan, lightly roast 2 tablespoons of chopped nuts and 1 tablespoon of raisins in a ghee.
- Add those roasted nuts and raisins to the besan mixture and blend thoroughly.
Step 5: Shaping the Laddus
- While the aggregate continues to be warm, take small portions and form them into round ladoos using your fingers. If the aggregate is too dry, add a touch of extra melted Desi Ghee to assist with the binding.
Step 6: Cooling and Storing
- Place the formed ladoos on a plate and allow them to cool completely.
- Once cooled, keep the ladoos in an airtight container. They may be kept at room temperature for up to two weeks.
